'Glass Tooth' t-shirts

These are my brother's designs which I've helped dye and now trying to sell. If you have a particular preference in what colour or shade you want let us know (i.e. 2 or more colours mixed or a different colour altogether, we'll see what we ...can do). T-shirts come in S, M or L. We've only done a few samples so far so we've got plenty more we can dye according to what you want. Also you have the option of having it cut into a vest if you would prefer that. T-shirts cost £10 each.

Contact me on facebook or message me to find out more details or if you wish to purchase one.

Recent purchases

I have no idea why but I have always been drawn to cardigans and jumpers as if I'm an old woman or something. I think I'm attracted to the fact someone younger can make a supposedly ugly piece of clothing someone older would conventionally wear and convert it into something fashionable (plus its comfortable which is always a bonus). I adore Asos marketplace where people sell vintage clothing, this is where I bought this cardigan for £4. Vintage used to be cheap which was an advantage over shopping at the high street shops, however as vintage has gained popularity by the 'indie' scene, vintage clothing has shot up in prices dramatically. It defeats the object of the item actually being second hand, surely it should be cheaper than a new piece of clothing? Anyway, Asos marketplace and Ebay are great, it takes a lot of searching but you can find great bargains which you may not find in some vintage shops.

I have recently bought this touch of silver shampoo by PRO:VOKE having missed how blonde my hair used to be! It's a gradual shampoo which reduces the yellowness of your hair, hopefully its as effective as I've heard it to be. I purchased it from Boots and it cost me approximately £3. It's vibrant purple which definitely surprised me but this is what it meant by the violent pigment stated on the bottle. Fingers crossed it works!

Last weekend I returned a pair of shorts from Urban Outfitters and came across this gorgeous skirt by Minkpink. It's so soft and vibrant, giving it that really luxurious and expensive appearance. The print is beautiful and almost looks hand drawn, this photograph doesn't give enough justice to just how stunning it looks in real life.

So my best friend Lauren Cox got her first article published in a local magazine 'Brum Notes' last week. I feel like a proud parent! It contains the interview I attended with her in November with Swim Deep & a recent interview with lead singer Austin Williams. It's a great magazine reviewing new and upcoming artists which you can pick up from various locations in Birmingham, for example, the vintage shop in Digbeth called 'COW' or alternatively here's a link to read it online.

It's definitely worth a read! http://issuu.com/brumnotesmagazine/docs/brumnotes_february2013?mode=a_p

Her music blog also covers gigs she regularly attends (often with me haha), talking about fresh and exciting alternative bands. She's one to watch! :

Yves Saint Laurent Menswear Fall Winter 2013, Paris

So my absolute dream of a catwalk occurred tonight whilst watching the live stream of Yves Saint Laurent's winter fall for 2013. Not only did the line suit my taste down to a tee but members of my favourite bands were strutting their stuff down the catwalk - a girls dream (well mine at least).

The best description I could give the show would be 'layered but sophisticated grunge'. There were a lot of flannel shirts, scarfs and large coats with checkered and striped patterns frequently occurring throughout (also a dash of leopard print, contributing an element of 'glam rock'). Common colours included a lot of blacks, greys, whites and reds. In all, the running theme occurred to me as being very 'rock' with a lot of skinny jeans and leathers, this may possibly be the reason why they searched for musicians to model their new line. In conclusion, the key must have in this collection is the infamous flannel shirt made famous by such bands like Nirvana during the grungey decade of the 90s.

I firstly discovered that Zachary Robinson from the Birmingham band Swim Deep would be walking the catwalk. I personally think he stood out from the rest of models (possibly because of his unique blonde hair) but I think modelling could play a big part in his future alongside his music career. He is pretty much set for life, musical, good looking and fashionable, what more could you want?

Whilst watching the live stream I unknowingly came across another of my favourite bands, Egyptian Hip Hop - in which two of their members (Louis Stevenson Miller and Alex Hewett) were modelling for the line.

To view more of the collection here is the link I used ....

Sky Ferreir

This video is very reminiscent of the '80s in terms of the sound and styling but I can't help but love it. It helps that the video is stunning too.

Tame Impala

Mesmerized by this song at the moment. Give it a listen.

Meeting SWIM DEEP ~

Swim Deep are a young Birmingham based band, consisting of the members Austin, Higgy, Zachary and Cavan. They describe their music as 'feel good' and gain their inspiration from 'the weather' which is highlighted in their song 'King City' with the lyrics 'sun on my back, yeah it's a nice day'. Coming from Birmingham myself, it's inspiring to see such a groundbreaking band from my home town climb their way to fame. There has been a lot of media attention on Birmingham recently due to the growing success of Swim Deep and other Birmingham bands such as JAWS and PEACE - all of whom have appeared in the magazine NME. It's great to see such unique sounds originating from Birmingham rather than places such as Manchester, London or Leeds where a lot of bands these days come from. Birmingham's gradually gaining growing influence in the indie music scene, changing the face of B-town from how people would normally view it.

Swim Deep's sound varies. Their songs can sound quite haunting with the echoing voice of Austin in songs such as 'Orange County' and 'Sante Maria', yet there is always an element of the upbeat sound of the guitar riff in the background. The contrast of the deep bass with the high pitched whiny electric guitar, creates an on going melody in a way which makes their individual sound. Zachery's drumming style is iconic and inspiring, often taking a lead role in songs such as 'Honey' as you can see in this video .....

My own photograph of Swim Deep live

Their image and sound is only suited to some, but personally I adore them. I had the opportunity of meeting them this week on the Monday 19th November due to my very close friend Lauren who writes for various blogs and magazines such as the Birmingham magazines  'Brum Notes' and 'Counteract magazine'. We met Austin (lead singer) and Higgy (bassist) in the pub 'The Crown' on Digbeth road, Birmingham before watching them support 'The Mystery Jets'. Having listened to them so much and recently watching them on channel 4 'Freshly Squeezed' it was a very surreal moment seeing them in person. It was a very laid back interview, discussing how they formed and their influences. Lauren and I took a seat opposite them as they feasted on their pizza for dinner before the gig. As Lauren asked them questions for Counteract Magazine, I played the important part of videoing them attractively eating pizza in which after 4 minutes of filming, Higgy only just realized he was being filmed. They talked about the album they are now currently recording in Brussels (where they arrived on Thursday, 22nd November) and how excited they were about the accommodation. This highlighted the fact of how young they are and new to all these exciting experiences coming their way. They stated how the influence of  'Tame Impala' have matured them as a band. This was confirmed when Tame Impala appeared on Jools Holland this week and Zachary's response on twitter was purely... 'mind...blown...CHECK'. It was clear to see they have always been seen as the mismatched ones in society with Austin stating he hadn't had a girlfriend since nursery where he had about 20, at this point Lauren took the opportunity to state we both admire them masses and its clear that their fan base of girls will now rapidly develop (also discussed in their freshly squeezed interview as they talk about Cav's odd fan twitter page.....).

The interview generally flowed well and humour was always apparent on their behalf. After meeting them my love for this band has developed even further, seeing how kind and intelligent they are. While watching the Mystery Jets after Swim Deep had performed, Higgy walked passed us and greeted us, just proving how genuine they really are. They are influential in their music style but also in their fashion style, their image is very grungy and generally looks as if they have thrown anything on randomly yet somehow they manage to make it look attractive and desirable. They are ones to watch not only musically but fashionably .....

Higgy, Zachary, Austin

Watch out for SWIM DEEP in 2013 because they are going to be HUGE! I hope to see them again next month due to rumours  & hints from the band themselves of them supporting their good friends PEACE on Saturday 22nd December at Rainbow, Birmingham. I am so proud of these upcoming B-town bands and can't wait to see them hit it big.

Here's a clip of PEACE who I will be seeing in December ...
